佐藤　允彦（ピアニスト／作・編曲家）

 

　1941年東京生まれ。慶應義塾大学卒業後、1966年から1968年にかけて米国バークリー音楽院に留学、作・編曲を学ぶ。

　帰国後、1969年に初のリーダー・アルバム『パラジウム』でスイングジャーナル誌「日本ジャズ賞」受賞。その後も、ビッグ・バンドのための作品『四つのジャズコンポジション』(1970年)、『邪馬台賦』(1972年) で二度の芸術祭優秀賞を受賞する。

　これまでに数多くのリーダー・アルバムを発表しており、スティーヴ・ガッド、エディ・ゴメスのトリオでレコーディングした『アモーフィズム』の全米発売や、“セレクト・ライブ・アンダー・ザ・スカイ '90”で誕生した『ランドゥーガ』(スイングジャーナル誌「日本ジャズ賞」受賞) のフランスでのリリースなど、国際的にも高い評価を得ている。

　また、ベルリン、ドナウエッシンゲン、メールス、モントルーなどのジャズ・フェスティバルへの出演や、アフリカ、オーストラリア、ロシア、中南米などへのコンサート・ツアーと、国内に止まらない広範な活動は常に注目を集めている。

　作・編曲家としては、ナンシー・ウイルソン、アート・ファーマー、ヘレン・メリル、

中川昌三、伊藤君子をはじめとする様々なアーティストのレコーディングへの参加や、

『オーケストラと三人のインプロヴァイザーのための「乱文」』(1986年)、

『WAVE IIIとオーケストラのためのコンチェルト』(1988年) などの実験的作品、

「万国博覧会〜地方自治体館」(1970年)、

「花と緑の博覧会〜ＪＴ館」(1990年) などのパビリオン音楽、

リチャード・デューセンバーグIII世の筆名でのベルエア・ストリングス・シリーズなどを手掛けている。さらに、音楽を担当したテレビ番組、映画、ＣＭは数え切れないほどである。

　1997年に自己のプロデュース・レーベル〈BAJ Records〉を創設。

バッハ、落語の出囃子、童謡、スタンダードをモティーフとした『戯楽』シリーズを発表、好評を博す。

　最近では、バーチャル・シンガーの初音ミクとのコラボレーションで音楽監督を務めるなど、その活躍はますます多面化するばかりである。

　1981年から2020年までミュージックカレッジ・メーザーハウスの音楽理論、作・編曲、ピアノ部門主幹講師。

　1993年、「ジャンル、技量にかかわらず、誰でも参加できる即興演奏」を目指すワークショップ【Randooga】を開始、フリー・インプロヴィゼイションへの簡潔なアプローチ法を提唱している。

Satoh was born in Tokyo in 1941. He graduated from Keio University. He studied music composition and arrangement at Berklee School of Music in Boston from 1966 to 1968 on a Downbeat Magazine scholarship.

He created own production label BAJ Records in 1997.

Satoh created the chair of Non-idiomatic Improvisation at Tokyo University of the Arts from 2009 to 2011.

He is the chief instructor at the music college MESAR HAUS from 1981 to 2020.

 

Satoh has participated in recordings as the composer and the arranger with the artists such as ;

Nancy Wilson, Helen Merrill, Wayne Shorter, Art Farmer,   Eddie Gomez, Steve Gadd, Hank Jones, Toots Thielmans,      Gary Peacock, Roy Haynes, Alex Acuña, and Harvey Mason

 

He has participated in performances and recordings as the improviser with the artists such as ;

Lauren Newton, Joëlle Léandre, Peter Brötzmann, Pierre Favre, Steve Lacy, Jean François Jenny-Clark, Albert Mangelsdorff, Anthony Braxton, Ned Rothenberg, Adelhard Roidinger,        Karl Berger, Peter Wallen, Allen Blairman, and Kang Tae Hwan
